New focus

[edit]

When I first came to this article last year, its main focus had moved to consideration of the fable. So long as it appeared that the proverb 'Don't put all your eggs in one basket' derived from the fable, there was a place for consideration of it as a linguistic phenomenon. Research now reveals that the fable is definitely not Aesop's and there is no proof that there is any connecton between fable and proverb until the two began to be associated by 19th century editors. Since consideration of the proverb outside this is no longer justified, I have omitted the section dealing with it from the rewritten article. Mzilikazi1939 (talk) 18:15, 12 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The redirect needs to be removed then - and the content regarding "Don't count your chickens before they hatch" needs it own article. Jasonfward (talk) 21:01, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
